The Raceview Herd was established in 1988, with a view to producing quality animals. When buying breeding stock, we purchased from established lines of breeding regardless of the cost. In selection of sires, we always chose bulls who had proven in quality and in the show ring.

With this in mind we decided we would show our cattle. Initially, having no success, but gradually improving. We bought Creemore Kim in 1990 with heifer- Kingfield Anneka. Anneka went on to win Simmental of the year as a Senior Heifer in 1992. We also won the Club Female Final that year and five subsequent years. We won Show Herd of the Year in 1993, '94, '95, '96, after which the competition was finished.

In order to maintain quality in the herd, a strict culling policy is enforced each year. Any animal not reaching our standard is culled. Some heifers being sold for commercial breeding. Any cow not breeding to our standard is culled to the factory.

We exported some females to the North, notable, Raceview Helena Exp. 98. She went on to claim reserve Female of the Year 1999. Her first daughter Lucy, went on to be Overall Female of the Year 2002, property of Frank Kelly. Also exported was Raceview Lady Diamond, Champion at Roscommon Premier Sale, November 2001. She had a very successfully show season in 2002, culminating Supreme Champion Enniskillen Show and a member of the Winning pairs Final at the same show. Also exported was Raceview Martina Eval to Robert Forde at our last Sale October 2002. She won numerous Interbreeds and Female of the year 2003.

Raceview King was bred from a very big Manitoba Spartan cow i.e. Diamond. She was crossed with a bull from Raceview Beauty, Gladiator, half brother to Doc, Fawn-Doc, E-Doc, F-Doc, all of which went for pedigree breeding. He is the heaviest ever Department recorded Simmental bull at 12 months - 790 kg @ 365 days D.L.G 2kg+ from birth. He also expresses top class conformation and has proven to be easy calving.
